Being a student

The transition to student life

Making the decision to continue studying or to go back into learning after a break is a positive choice. Learning can open many doors and the experience can lead to personal growth as well as career or life change.

Becoming a student can be a major life change, especially if you have been out of learning for some time.

You may be leaving your job completely, reducing your working hours or fitting study around a full-time career.

You may have to put your children into childcare for the first time or for longer hours.

You may be more reliant on a partner, friends or family for support than you have before.

It is important that you take the time to think about how you will manage these changes. Preparation is essential so that you can embark upon your studies with a clear plan. This will give you the best chance of success with a minimal amount of stress.
