Dance Theatre Extended Diploma
Introducing our brand new Dance Theatre course, launching Septemeber 2019!
Why should I choose this course?
This dancing course gives you 21 hours a week of contact time (on average) compared with around 12-14 hours in many FE colleges. On this course your teaching will be delivered by professional dancers and dance practitioners , who are specialists in their field and an exciting range of guest tutors.
What will the course be like?
The course will focus on contemporary dance, physical theatre, urban and jazz saw well as world dance styles to develop you as a versatile artist.
Units will include:
-Professional practice -Choreography
-collaborative cross arts performance -Dance fitness
-Dance in community -Dance technique and performance
-Ensemble dance performance - Global dance styles
-Leading dance -Repertory dance performance
-Repertory dance performance -performances in professional settings in year 2 of the course.
How is it assessed?
The course is very practical.We describe it as 80% practical and 20% written work.There are no examinations, you will be continuously assessed throughout the year.
The assessments are graded as Distinction,Merit or pass.
Course Progression?
Our Dance Theatre diploma can enable you to progress to a high quality university performing arts course or dance school such as London Contemporary Dance School, Rambert and Trinity Laban. Dance students are also accepted on a wide range of other university courses, or can find career opportunities in the creative industries more widely. Some students may decide to study further to gain a dance practitioner qualification or study for a BEd teaching qualification.
